Generosity comes in spades

Slide1

The first sod has been turned on the site of our new three-bedroom home in Adelaide’s northeast that will be auctioned next year to raise money for The Advertiser Foundation Kids’ Appeal.

The two-storey terrace home will also feature two-and-a-half bathrooms, a large living area and a rear-loaded garage.

The house and land package at Oakden Rise, donated by Villawood Properties and Weeks Homes, is the centrepiece of the Kids’ Appeal and expected to fetch up to $700,000.

The home also includes premium Fisher and Paykel appliances, including an integrated fridge and dishwasher.

The Advertiser Foundation head Dan Demaria said the Good Home House and Land Auction was an exciting new initiative that would play a critical role in raising money for children in need.

“We are delighted to have partnered with Villawood Properties and Weeks Homes to include the Good Home House and Land Auction as a major initiative for The Advertiser Foundation Kids’ Appeal,” Mr Demaria said.

Weeks Homes chief executive Peter McIndoe said his support of the Good Home project was a way for Weeks Homes to thank the Adelaide community for their support.

“We wanted this home to have an effortless, contemporary and open feel and our design team has done an exceptional job of bringing that to life with a ‘Japandi’ Scheme which is a mix of both contemporary Japanese and Scandinavian styles,” Mr McIndoe said.

“The scheme is neutral and minimalistic and will allow the lucky new owner to apply their own personal stamp to the home.

“I would also like to thank all of our suppliers and trades who have agreed to donate or discount their services to help in the construction of this home,” Mr McIndoe said.

Villawood Properties chief executive Alan Miller said Oakden Rise would be a great community with features including a residents’ club with a swimming pool, gym, cafe, a function venue, sport courts and more.

“It has loads of open space,” Mr Miller said. “You won’t have to walk more than just 200 metres to find parkland or open space. It’s super sustainable and it’s just 9km from the Adelaide CBD.

“Hundreds of people are getting behind the house and the Kids Appeal. Tradies, suppliers, Weeks, Villawood – the Advertiser Foundation. It’s an extraordinary and heart-warming effort.”
